Trauma-Informed Consulting for More Grounded, Resilient Workplaces

Most organizations are investing in wellness. Few are addressing it at the level where it actually lives, which is the nervous system. That is where my work begins.

Meet Your Consultant

Hi, I’m Karen “Kay” Wright, MA, LCPC — a licensed therapist, certified sound healer, breathwork facilitator, and nervous system educator with sixteen years in mental health, with thirteen of those years doing deep trauma and crisis work.

During those years I worked alongside schools, hospitals, community organizations, and multidisciplinary teams across Illinois. I sat in the meetings, collaborated with administrators and support staff, and watched some of the most dedicated professionals I have ever met quietly come undone. It wasn’t because they were inadequate. It was because the systems around them were never designed to support their wellbeing.

That experience, combined with my own journey through burnout, led me to build something different.

I founded The Wright Advocate in 2020 and recently created The W.R.I.G.H.T. Method™ — a trauma-informed framework that helps individuals and organizations move from surviving to intentional living.

I now bring that framework into workplaces, schools, and healthcare systems that are ready to address burnout at the root level, not just treat the symptoms.

Because when people feel genuinely supported, performance follows.

Experience Includes

I am a licensed trauma therapist and former crisis responder with sixteen years of clinical experience. I assisted in the development of Lake County's Trauma Treatment Program and trained hundreds of professionals through Youth Mental Health First Aid programs. Throughout my career I have worked extensively alongside individuals, families, schools, and organizations navigating acute mental health crises, trauma-informed systems change, and staff wellness challenges. That experience is the foundation everything I bring to organizations today is built on.

The W.R.I.G.H.T. Method™

Most wellness programs stop at awareness. The W.R.I.G.H.T. Method™ goes further.

It is a six phase trauma-informed framework — six intentional phases that build on each other — designed to take individuals and teams from recognizing stress to responding to it with intention and building real, sustainable capacity along the way.

Each phase creates a structured pathway that goes beyond information and actually teaches the nervous system how to regulate. This is not a one time training. It is a framework for lasting change.

The W.R.I.G.H.T. Method™ is woven into every consulting engagement, workshop, and training I offer — giving your organization a consistent, evidence-informed approach to wellbeing that your team can return to long after our work together ends.

A Different Approach to Well-Being at Work

Most workplaces focus on performance without fully addressing the internal and environmental factors that impact it.

The reality is that people are not disconnected, burned out, or overwhelmed by accident. They are responding to chronic stress, high expectations, and environments that were not designed with their wellbeing in mind. And when that goes unaddressed long enough it shows up as emotional exhaustion, disengagement, and communication breakdowns. The teams that look the most high functioning on the outside are often the ones struggling the most underneath.

That is not a motivation problem. It is a nervous system problem.

My work bridges that gap. I support organizations in creating spaces where employees can slow down, regulate, and show up with more clarity, resilience, and authenticity. Because sustainable performance does not come from pushing harder. It comes from feeling genuinely supported at the level that actually matters.

What This Work Supports

This work is designed for organizations navigating burnout and chronic stress, emotional exhaustion and staff disengagement, and high performing but overwhelmed teams. It also addresses deeper systemic challenges like lack of psychological safety, communication and leadership breakdowns, and the ongoing difficulty of sustaining performance without burning out the people responsible for delivering it. If any of these feel familiar inside your organization, you are in the right place.

Why this work matters

This is not about quick fixes or surface-level solutions.

It is about understanding how stress lives in the body, how environments shape behavior, and how intentional support can shift both individual and organizational outcomes. My approach is trauma-informed, practical, and grounded in real-life clinical and organizational experience. Every engagement is focused on both the people inside the system and the systems they operate in.

Because sustainable change happens when we support both.

This is The Wright Advocate… where we slow down, regulate, and restore a sense of clarity—in ourselves and in the spaces we show up in.
